The Empty Bay
Once the optical drive locking screws are removed the entire drive can be lifted free, which will also release the small SATA connector from the logic board. Be careful not to pull any of the surrounding cables, specifically the cable running to the display.

The Optical Drive
Once the optical drive is free you will need to remove the SATA connector and mounting bracket.
-
The SATA Connector and Mounting Bracket
The SATA connector can simply be pulled free, however the mounting bracket requires two small screws to be removed.

The SATA Connector
Plug the SATA connector into the OptiBay.
-
The Mounting Bracket
Install the mounting bracket on to the OptiBay, using the two small screws.
-
Install the OptiBay
Finally install the OptiBay into the MacBook Pro and lock using the single screw (through the mounting bracket). Also ensure you reconnect the SATA connector to the logic board. You are now free to re-install the bottom case.
