Print Article So after a long wait we finally have the official release date and pricing for the UK (and EU) launch of the iPad. Although the UK Apple Store will not be updated until Monday for pre-ordering, Apple released the following statement:
To summarise, the iPad will be available in the UK on May 28th and the prices are:

Note: The US pricing excludes State TAX.
"A magical product at an unbelievable price" - I am not sure I completely agree with this statement. Don't get me wrong, I am pleased that we finally have some official details on the UK launch, however I was really hoping (probably dreaming) for a sub £400 starting price. If you convert US $499 at today's rate you get £337, even once you have added US state TAX we are still paying approximately £70 more in the UK for exactly the same product, manufactured in exactly the same factory.
Moan over...having now had a little time with an iPad I will still definitely pick one up, probably the 32GB Wi-Fi and rely on my MiFi or mobile tethering for Internet connectivity.

Nice price breakdown Mark. Look's like on average we are getting stung for an additional 15%. That really does suck for us... Looks like the key would be to try and find a 32GB Wi-Fi in the US for £430 :-)
